Alison became a Modern Pilates Teacher after many years of teaching dance and fitness. She enjoys helping people to improve their lives by assisting them to achieve better posture, strength and stability so that they can lead active, (and where possible) pain free, healthy, happy lives.
Teaching Dance and Fitness alongside Pilates enables Alison to share her passion and love for life and movement with people of all ages. The combination of teaching these different practical activities assists Alison in use her mind, body and knowledge of the power of movement, in a positive, motivational way that helps people both physically and spiritually.
She enjoys helping people find clarity, peace of mind, fulfilment and happiness through learning more about their bodies and the movement they can achieve.
In the early 1980’s Alison studied for a Diploma of Higher Education in Creative Arts (Dance and Drama). She enjoyed sharing her passion for all things dance and fitness in the U.K. and Germany. She spent much of her time during the 1980’s in Germany; teaching community dance, fitness and choreographing for German Karneval dance competitions and performances.
Alison worked in an office environment for 16 years but continued to dance, became more interested in the fitness industry, achieved her Exercise to Music Fitness qualification and gained valuable experience teaching dance and fitness to local communities, schools and individuals.
In 2004 Alison taught dance at a school in York and studied at York St. John University, achieving her BA (Honours) Degree in Communication Arts: Dance in 2006. She continued her work as a professional freelance dance teacher, choreographer and exercise to music Instructor within York, Selby, North Yorkshire and East Riding.
Alison then undertook her Level 3 professional training in Modern Pilates and discovered how it can profoundly affect people’s lives in a positive way. Modern Pilates can provide strength, release stress, decrease pain, improve mobility and provide relaxation (amongst many other things). Sometimes that movement may be small, but it is incredibly important for our long term health and well being, regardless of age or ability. Alison believes that keeping moving is the most important thing we can do and enjoys sharing this with others. Moving is Being!

Alison is available on Mondays, Wednesdays & Thursdays 08:00 - 18:00
